Mattie McClaskey, LPC
Rooted in compassion. Growing toward change.
I provide mental health therapy for adults & college students in the Eugene/Springfield area and teletherapy across Oregon. My mission is to build genuine connections with clients and empower them to find healing, reach their goals, navigate life’s challenges, and grow strengths in a nurturing and safe space.
CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
I know firsthand how being vulnerable and sharing one’s story can be intimidating. My goal as a therapist is to connect with you and create a safe, nonjudgmental space where I am happy to walk alongside you on your journey. I recognize that you are the expert in your own life, and I believe in the inherent ability of each individual to create hope, change, and healing for themselves. I partner with the people I work with to empower them to identify goals, broaden strengths, learn new skills, and process and heal difficult experiences. Therapy is a personal journal, and I meet you where you are at.
I received my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Arizona University in 2022 and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon. I help people explore their narratives, values, and thought and behavior patterns that may have developed throughout life experiences. My approach is warm, fun, kind, down-to-earth while encouraging of perspective-taking, and catered to the individual as well as strength-based and culturally- and trauma-informed. I utilize tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness practices, MI, and Humanistic Therapy to help people explore their patterns, learn new ways of responding to problems and stressors, and improve relationships with both others and ourselves.
I view counseling as a collaborative partnership between client and therapist and endeavor to understand each person’s unique social context, culture, and identity. I work with people of all backgrounds, and am pleased to welcome anyone who identifies as being part of any racial, ethnic, religious, or sexual minority groups. Valuing warmth, humor, learning, and authenticity, I welcome you the opportunity to explore your story and support you in pursuing meaning and joy in your life.
Outside of the therapy office, I enjoy reading, arts such as painting, and crocheting, hiking and nature, spending time with my family, friends, and cat, and trying new types of tea!
